FAQ
-
How long will my MERch take to arrive? As a small family run business please allow up to 7 working days for posting. However we always endeavour to post as soon as possible and usually within 3 working days. For UK post, we send parcels by Royal Mail Tracked. Items usually arrive within 1-2 working days. There may be delays during busy periods, such as Christmas, so if an item is needed for a particular date, please order in advance. Delivery times for international post will vary dependent on the destination country and customs. We use DHL Express so delivery to most countries is 2-7 working days. The Mermaid's Tail Ltd does not take responsibility for delays due to issues with Royal Mail or International postal services due to strikes, etc.
-
Can you take payment installments?Yes - we can take installments for fabric tails and silicone attire. We can split payments in half. The first payment must be taken prior to ordering materials or sending a tail to print, and the second prior to posting. For tails with shape or colour adaptations where a £100 digital customisation deposit is paid, the remaining cost can be paid in halves. Again, the first half prior to printing, the second prior to posting.
-
How long will my tail take to create? The Mermaid's Tail UK will endeavour to make all tails within six weeks of receipt of payment. Your tail will then be posted and arrival time will depend on the destination country. As the tails are sent to an external company for printing, rarely delays at the printer may affect production time, however we will keep the purchaser fully up to date with any such delays. It may be possible to have tails made in a shorter amount of time - if you need a tail for a specific date please contact us and we will try to accommodate if it is feasible.
-
Do you make fabric tails for children? We only make tails for adults (18 and over) at this stage. Our tails have large flukes and need a substantial monofin, therefore we feel they are only suitable for strong, confident adult swimmers.
-
What monofins can be used in your tail skins? At present we make tail skins for the Fish Fin monofin (see below - available from Amazon or Mermaid Lucia), the Linden monofin and the Mahina monofin. We can also create vinyls for tails if a different monofin is required. Vinyls will cost £40 on the tail designs we currently have on our website.
-
Do you make custom tail designs? At present we do not offer custom designs created exclusively for individual customers, however we occasionally take suggestions for designs and would love to know what colours and styles you would like to see! If you have any ideas or thoughts, please get in touch. Please note that all artwork and designs are intellectual property of The Mermaid's Tail Ltd and we reserve the right to add designs to our website if we choose. When suggesting designs, please be aware we won't design tails inspired by other tail makers, but we love to look at fish, sea creatures and coastlines for inspiration. We are proud of the natural aesthetic of our tails and will be true to our own style. We can also, where possible, adapt our tail designs in shape and colours at the customer's request. Again, adaptations will not be made as 'exclusives' for individual customers and we reserve the right to add adaptations and colour variations of tails to our website if we choose. We do not charge to make adaptations to tails or for colour changes, however a non-refundable £100 deposit will taken prior to embarking on digital work, which will be deductable against the price of the tail.
-
Why do you not offer refunds on mermaid tails? Our bespoke mermaid tails are custom made to your measurements so we are unable to offer a refund.
-
What fabric do you use to create your tails? We use a high quality, buttery soft 250gsm heavyweight stretch polyester specifically designed for sublimation printing and highly suitable for swimming. This is not the same fabric as the scuba knit used by some other sellers. We have been delighted with the durability of our tails and they dry quickly after swimming. For the price of postage, samples of our fabric can be sent to the UK (£1.10) and internationally (£2.20). Please email us for further information.
-
What type of silicone do you use to create the mermaid bras?We always use Dragon Skin Platinum Silicone, which is certified skin safe.
-
Why do you not offer refunds or exchanges on silicone mermaid bras and attire? Each silicone piece is a handmade piece of art. As these are cast individually there will be slight variations to each piece and no two are identical. Due to them being worn on intimate areas and there being slight stretch to the powermesh straps when tried on we are unable to offer returns. Customised orders are non-refundable and non returnable. Please look at the measurements on each piece closely prior to buying.
-
What are the straps on the silicone bras made from?We use high quality power mesh for our silicone bra straps. We can also adhere the silicone to fabric bras. We can purchase the bras for customers (in UK bra sizes), or if customers prefer, to ensure a perfect fit, they can send their own bra to us. If customers wish to adhere their silicone bra to a top or bra themselves, we recommend using Sil-Poxy, available online.
